The Signage Design Awards 2009
A couple of weeks ago the GD team took a trip out to The Building Centre, London to take a look around the The Signage Design Awards 2009. Winners included; Morton Bay Cycle Way, Australia – designed by Dot Dash, O2 Arena – designed by Populous , The Guardian and Selfidges London – both designed by Cartlidge Lavene.
We thought they were all worthy winners and were impressed with the overall standard, here are just a few of our favorites:
The Guardian

This is great looking wayfinding system, built out of cardboard.
The Cardinal Cafe

We really like the signage and branding produced for the Cardinal Cafe by Hat-trick design.
Cabot Circus, Bristol

We think this is a great example of outdoor way finding designed by FWD Design.
The Barbican, London

Really nice largeformat wayfinding by Carlidge Levene and Studio Myerscough.
Why not let us know your favorites, maybe you have some even better examples?

I remember producing all the vinyl for the Cardinal Cafe job. At the time it was (as most jobs are) a lot of work in a short amount of time, but it did look great once it was installed. All the folks I’ve met from Hat-Trick are also a lovely bunch of talented people to boot.
The cardboard signage at the Guardian is intriguing and well-designed! Thanks for the photos, interesting concepts.
