Queen Elizabeth Children’s Hospital
We were recently appointed to work with Rydon and Family Mosaic to undertake a programme of design-led community engagement for the redevelopment of the former Queen Elizabeth Children’s Hospital site in Hackney.
Part of the engagement process is to include interaction through design based activities for a range of age groups. Looking at the sites rich cultural history and some current activity, such as the newly founded book market, we have set up a programme of event based interactions, the first being a bookbinding workshop for kids.
We have also utilised a grade 2 listed telephone box located on the edge of the site and set up a tiny library, with just six books for the public to borrow, swap or add to.
Part of the commission also included to establish a recognisable brand for the site and roll it out over all materials.
Further activity will follow throughout the summer, including creative writing and illustration workshops.
