We love our new books
We’ve gone a bit library crazy this month, but with so many brilliant new publications released, we thought a quick round up of what we have been visually enjoying might be useful.
Dezeen Book of Ideas – Published by Spotlight Press. Available here
The Dezeen website has long been a favourite of the team, with consistently high quality interior, architecture, design and product studies from across the world. The Book o f Ideas, takes the best of the website and adds it all into one handy journal. It includes the top ten most viewed and popular posts from the website, including some personal favourites – the ink calendar, by Oscar Diaz, and the amazing folding USB plug by RCA graduate Min-Kyu Choi are worth a look as well as some fun surprises.
The London Design Guide – Published by Spotlight Press. Available here
The annual design guide for all things retail design related in London, has been given a fresh look by designer Richard Ardagh Studio. It illustrates the best places to buy, see and eat in design related environments, carefully selected, area by area. Both a handy source book for work precedent studies, and guide book for Christmas shopping.
Type Series – editions for Din, Futura and Bodoni. Published by Viction:ary. Available here
We are big fans of these newly published source books that issue by issue tackle the best applications of individual font designs. The series is completed by Avant Garde which I’m sure we will acquire, although we don’t favour the font. The uses are original and many we had not seen before – a great source book for inspiration, and proof that ‘anything looks good set in Din!’
Typo Mag – Typography in Magazines. Published by Indexbook.com. Available here
A nice collection of magazine and journal page layouts. Good for inspiration and to see what everyone else is producing. Predominantly a good source guide for the best in current magazine typography and is the first in a series of type books.
