Stevenage town centre gardens wayfinding & signage

Having worked with the client Green Heart Partnership and HTA Landscape to produce a publication outlining the proposed changes to improve the existing Town Centre Gardens in Stevenage, we were asked to produce a wayfinding solution for a number of key locations to the park.

At the two main entrance points, entrance marker monoliths were designed in two types of bespoke concrete, created by Concrete Bloc, with 2.5m high base with inlaid moulded concrete letters in contrasting colour. The finish is highly polished and has an anti vandalism coating.

We then created a series of narrative signs through the park to explain the history if the site at key points. Again they were set simply in concrete with inlaid vitreous enamel information plates.

Returning again to concrete, we were asked to create a bespoke building facade design for the park toilet facilities. The structure had a series of concrete panels wrapping around the exterior, each debossed with a pattern of falling leaves of graduating depth and reducing in size. The effect is quite subtle, yet adds character to an otherwise functional building.
